Currently Resides: He divides his time between Quebec's Eastern Townships and London, England.

Family: Son of a working class Jewish family, Richler is twice married and has five children, several of whom have literary careers.

Religion: Irreverently Jewish. His heritage makes its way into many of his novels, filled with Jewish characters and situations.

Genres: Novels, essays (journalistic), children's literature, script-writing

Awards: Two Governor General's Awards (1968, 1971); a Screenwriters Guild of America Award (1974), the Giller Prize (1997) and a Ruth Schwartz Children's Book Award (1976).
