Kirman: That would certainly be quite different from anything else you have written.
Gilmour: I know, I know, and to tell you the truth I've actually written a couple of poems. I used to write poetry when I was at university but we all imagine our lives a certain way and the only legitimate kind of writing, hardball so to speak, was novel writing. That always seemed like the big boys' game and everything else -- screenwriting, poetry, all that kind of stuff was a warm-up act, but the big boys wrote novels. I think that's silly now but I felt that way and that was the engine that made me write four novels. But in fact I've actually written a couple of poems and I am not going to say anything about them except to say that they're hidden away but that I've actually worked at them and I've actually felt a little tinge of pleasure in writing them. But, believe me, no one's going to see these babies for some time. Next Time: Some final thoughts with David Gilmour.
