The Fall Season: A Special Enjoyment for Many Campers

There is nothing in nature more beautiful than autumn's turning leaves. The spectacular arrays of gold, brown, red and yellow lighten the heart and soothe tired summer eyes. The fragrance of a world preparing itself for a long winter's nap is somehow refreshing to the human soul - even uplifting with its musty, earthy aromas. Fall is a wonderful time to go camping, and many of us find it to be the best season of all! All across North America, campers find special pleasure being outdoors this time of year.

As I wrote last year in my fall article, the wife and I especially love camping in the fall. Living in Southern California, however, we are denied the fabulous autumn leave displays that many of you enjoy. This was during the time the trees in W.Va. were in full color. We took many side trips and viewed the trees, which were indescribably beautiful! We especially enjoyed a trip to the New River Gorge Bridge. We took the old road to the bottom and the trees coupled with the bridge and river rafters created a site we enjoyed for a long time. This campground is small, 17 sites, but has full hookups and very convenient to the surrounding area. The tour of the coal mining community, the museum and the mine itself is a wonderful tour if you like this sort of thing. This is a camping experience we have noted in hopes of repeating again next year.

Thank you,
