Our National Parks: Why Such Poor Camping Facilities?

to maintain a natural environment! I have camped in many excellent state parks across America. Some state park campgrounds (such as in Washington and Oregon) offer full-hookups, new showers, playgrounds, good roads and outstanding campsites-and yet still preserve and protect their beautiful park's environment. Why then, can't our National Parks provide decent camping facilities as well? Could it be that Park policy has gone so far toward conserving the natural beauty, that we-the visitors and supposed owners-have been forgotten?

America has some of the most beautiful and diverse National Parks in the world. The National Park Service, overall, does an outstanding job with their stewardship responsibilities. Park Rangers are wonderful people who are well trained and love the work they are doing. I am proud of them! They do wonderful things for us. However, somewhere along the line, the NPS has lost sight of its main goal-providing excellent service and enjoyment for the America people! Some small sections in each park must be set aside for visitors' facilities! Where do they want us to camp when we come to see and enjoy "our parks"? Maybe they would prefer that we stay at a private or state park nearby? Could be!

Where do you want to camp tonight?
