Chinese New Year Treats

Also if you would like to decorate a traditional cake with a Chinese new Year theme - how about doing a dragon? Or making a cake to resemble the money packs that are given to children? Do a red and gold cake - perhaps making gumpaste flowers in either red or gold? You could also get small Chinese fans or paper lanters(ususally found in party goods stores or Oriental gift shops) as an ornanmental item for your cake. You could also have a cake covered in gold colored fondant (dust it with an edible dust for a sheen) and add red flowers - simple but it can be very elegant. If there is a picture you’d like to send in with a photo of your favorite Chinese New Year cake - bring it on! I would love to see it and possibly post it here.
