Rising trend in Indian Software Exports

Coinciding with the congress, a high level 20-member Indian business delegation visited Washington to assess the prospects of software exports. The delegation, sponsored by SEC, was convinced of the enormous opportunities available in the US in the services sector. These include back-office service like data entry, transcription, remote accounting, remote data base management and remote electronic data conversion. These areas, offering mullet-million dollar business, can be new pastures for the Indian private sector, which has access to expanding Interment services.

The US and Canada are now India's largest export markets for computer software and services, accounting for 57 per cent of its total exports in the sector during 1997-98.
