Football and Owls.

This is from the Bird Watchers Digest.

In Cape Coral Florida, a pair of burrowing owls accomplished what even network TV could not. Changed the rules of football, at least for one game.

Burrowing Owls are protected in Florida, so when a pair took up residence on the 40-yard line at Cypress Lake High School, the team's annual fund raising game had to be modified.

As a result of the nest, playing was confined to the other end of the field, with both teams starting their offense from the other 40 yard line.

This story of the owls first appeared in the Cape Coral News-Press along with a color photo showing one of the owls perched on an orange plyon marker, with the football players scrimmaging in the background.
