Melbourne International Flower Show 2

In our first part of this article, we wandered around outside in the beautiful sunshine, enjoying looking at some of the awarding winning designs.

These were done by some of the worlds best artists. Huge crowds flocked to visit them. Jaimie Dury drew a huge crowd around the instant garden displays that he was creating each day. Starting from scratch, with just a bare piece of ground, some imagination and the right materials, he transformed a seed of thought that started as an idea into a fabulous winnig garden design.

There were numerous displays of bulbs, plants, seed for sale, as well as a great display of cactus and succulents, orchids, daffodils, trees, climbers, herbs and groundcovers.

Also, many garden tools, designer articles, as well as worm farms, gardening tools, bees wax, do-it-yourself kits of many forms. You name it, it was probably on sale somewhere in the garden grounds that week.

Before we finally get to venture inside, we will finish looking at some of hte outside displays and happenings around the place.

You will recall in part 1 that I mentioned the great bands that were wandering around playing great jazz and music. They marched through the crowds, causing great excitement, with the kids chasing after them as they went along. This one is the group called "Itchy Feet" There were also wonderful people dressed uo in great costumes, pleasing the crowds with their antics and generally causing interaction with people.

Here is my wife, Leone and I, having our photo taken with two great girls who were part of the great display.

Also, Bill posing with one of the dressed up advisors on one of the displays.

The displays built with plants and greenery were very pleasing to look at and there were many practical ideas that were certainly useable in an average garden or yard. I saw some imaginative fountain ideas on display that I will be able to use in my own backyard. This is cetainly not one I would use myself but it attracted plenty of attention . It was a light aircraft blending into a garden design. A very enterprising idea!

Well, I hope you have enjoyed looking at the second part of this fabulous display. I always look forward to going through each area and photographing the daily events.

I look forward to having you visit again back here next time when we go inside the Great Hall and see what's going on in there.
