Melbourne International Flower Show 2001- 1
The weather was perfect and we were not disapponted by the professional displays. What made it better is that there was a lot more to do and we were able to interact with many of the displays, festivies and functions that were on. Once again they had the Floral arrangement competitions and also, for a small fee, we were provided with all the materials and we could make our own. The wonderful Jazz bands were a special feature and another band "The Itchy Feet Band" were a huge success walking and playing through the crowds and generally skylarking with the public. Jaimie Dury, from the TV show "Backyard Blitz" was a special feature this year and one our our little grand daughters was so enthralled when she had her photo taken with him and she took it to school for "show and tell" We will now browse through some of the wonderful exhibitions and displays that were featured. One of the outside displays was done by the Age newspaper and featured some very nice displays of houses. These were designed to look elegant and different, made out of newspapers. They were eyecatching and different and drew quite a crowd of onlookers. The color schemes and designs used were just brilliant Jaimey Dury drew a crowd also as he did a "Backyard Blitz" garden, every day a different garden design. The one I photo- graphed was well done and he was there to answer questions and all the kids around wanted their photo taken with him. I was lucky enough to get the opportunity of snapping the grand daughter with him .
Britanny was a bit shy at first but once she was sitting in his arms, she was all smiles. She took the photo to school for "show and tell" The displays outside this year were excellent. Here is another example of what you can do with imagination, flair and the right materials.
These displays just show how great our Australian Landscape gardeners are.
Well, I hope you have enjoyed this series of photos. Next article, we will continue with this theme and look at more of our outdoor designs and schemes.
