Fasteners are one of the most important parts of the building. Without these, no building project could ever begin. But it is not always easy to understand what kind of fastener should be used for joining what building material. So this article will discuss the kinds of fasteners, where they are used and the materials they are made of.

Fastener Material

The choice of the material of a fastener is based on factors like the environment, weight, magnetic properties, stresses etc. Some of the common metals and alloys used in the manufacture of fasteners are:

Types of Fasteners

Usually fasteners are classified on the basis of their application. Two very broad categories that everyone knows about are nails and screws (also called threaded fasteners). There are also bolts and rivets. Other methods of joining materials are welding and soldering.
