are Arial, Verdana, Times Roman, Comic Sans MS and Courier New. If you stick to using these fonts you should be quite safe in the knowledge that your page will be seen as you intended it. To make sure that the page is viewed as closely as possible to the way you want it seen, you can specify more than the one font. You would do this as follows: Here is my text This will go through the list in order until a listed font that is installed on the viewer's computer is found. Ie, if they have "Fancy Font" they will see the text in that typeface, otherwise it will show in Comic font, and if they don't happen to have that one either, it will show in Arial font. In the rare chance that they don't have Arial either, the text would be displayed in the browser default font. So, having learned all of these wonderful font effects, can we combine them? Most definitely! If you wanted large red text in the Comic font, you would specify that as follows: This text really stands out! This text really stands out! When using your newly acquired font-ain of knowledge (yes, I know it was a bad pun!) you should keep in mind that the old adage "Less is More" really does apply here too. You want people to be able to read the informative and interesting text you're placing on your page, so combining all manner of font effects will only work against you. If the page is garish and hard to read, viewers won't try too hard to read what you have to say. A good rule of thumb is to use one font style for headings and another font style for the main text on your page. You could possibly add another variation for sub-headings but you really wouldn't want more than 3 different font styles on the one page. Have fun decorating your page!
