R.I.P. The Bronze

As of today, July 10, 2001, visitors to the "buffy.com" site, which was maintained by The WB, now see the following message: "Thanks for being part of one of the web's most extraordinary communities. We're pleased to have made it possible, and look forward to seeing you again soon. The WB" A link to The WB's "Angel" board at talk.thewb.com follows the message. (Both the "Buffy" message board and the "Roswell" message board have been removed from that site, since both shows have moved to UPN.) Inevitable though it was, many "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fans are in shock at the final demise of "The Bronze" posting board. A hybrid between a message board and a chat room, "The Bronze" was often the site of V.I.P. visits by members of the "Buffy" cast and crew. While there are many other "Buffy" message boards, mailing lists and chat rooms on the 'net, "The Bronze" was unique and will be missed. Fans in "Bronze" withdrawal may want to check out some of the following "Bronze" substitutes. http://bronzeshelter.com/forums/ The Bronze Shelter http://www.josswhedon.net/cgi-bin/ubbcgi... The Emergency Bronzing System http://www.thebronze2.com The Bronze 2 http://bronzehaven.homestead.com The Bronze Haven As one poster to the WB "Angel" message board, "X-Lander," pointed out: "The Bronze went down at 8:15 Eastern Time. We all mourn the loss of the greatest Internet Community. Pity that The Bronze couldn't have stayed up for the use of Angel fans. It could have been renamed Caritas. Sigh." Now, why didn't The WB think of that?
