Now, Back to Our Regular Rambling

Ms Budget Travel received some alarming news on January 21rst, while she sipped her coffee and perused Internet news resources she discovered the impending death of a tourist icon. According to a Reuters story (http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20020121... Hong Kong only has four registered rickshaws left.

Now quite frankly Ms Budget Travel doubts that under any circumstances she'd have ever ridden in a rickshaw, somehow the idea of another person pulling her around has no appeal for her. But she has a sentimental fondness for things that seem to symbolize a location, for example, she'd fall into a deep decline were Big Ben digitalized, if Elvis was added to Mount Rushmore, or if The Great Wall of China were plastered with advertising posters. She's still never quite recovered from the horrible moment she saw "American Sandwich Bread" advertised on the Paris metro. (Of all the things about America that we should not export Ms Budget Travel puts standard supermarket white bread at the top of the list.)

Rickshaws passing into history prompted Ms Budget Travel to get back to the business of helping you travel on the cheap --- rickshaws today? Who knows maybe the Grand Canyon will be filled in tomorrow.
