A rant and some bargains . . .

Nov 20, 2001 - © Diane Goldberg under the original topic name

Ms Budget Travel should really really Know Better than to be smug. Not even for a nanosecond should she succumb to smugness . . . because, as you Gentle Readers well know what Ms. Budget Travel does best and most frequently is Make Mistakes, she does this, of course, so that you do not have to.

Yeah, right . . .

Gentle Readers, Ms Budget Travel somehow misread the calendar . . . she somehow had it in her pretty little head that she was boarding an airplane on Thanksgiving Day , one of those miraculous Exceedingly Low Passenger Days --- she had visions, not of sweet potato pie, but of being able to stretch across a nice row of seats and enjoy a wonderful transatlantic snooze.

Alas, the best laid plans, etc. etc.

Ms Budget Travel is, in fact, traveling on the day BEFORE Turkey Day, the hell of jammed airports and seat-kicking children will be hers. Or not. She'll let you know upon her return. . . and for those of you who have yet to make your travel plans, she's managed to round up a few special deals you might want to have a look at . . .

British Airways has a nifty search engine that makes it easy to see all their current special offers at http://www.british-airways.com/travel/ba... Until December 4, 2001 passengers departing from the USA can purchase one ticket from BA and get a companion ticket free, check that out at http://www.british-airways.com/travel/ba...

The Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver is offering an attractive deal to folks interested in a room, a hefty discount, and a whole bunch of frequent flyer miles on their choice of numerous airlines, including Air Canada, Air New Zealand, and others. The promotion began November 1 and runs through April 2002, you can get details at http://www.panpac.com/canada/vancouver/h...

http://www.hoteldiscount.com/cgi-bin/pic... will zap you to hotel discount.com --- they have some pretty special offers right now, and to make it a tad easier they've a toll free number to call in Europe and one that works in the USA. They're offering incredible rates on New York City Hotels --- this may be really important if you have family in New York and recent events make you want to visit without crowding them . . .

If you need a hotel room often, Ms Budget Travel recommends http://www.lodging.com/, not only do they have good rates all the time, internet specials, and a phone number so you can consult with a real person, they also give you a 2% rebate on all your bookings, if you do a lot of travel whether for business or pleasure, that 2 % really can make a difference. . .
