Ms Budget Travel's Excellant Russian Adventure . . . (Part 1)

Ms Budget Travel was not concerned about security. She was entranced by how different everything was: the expert drivers negotiating icy streets, the blending of industrial Soviet sites with architectural wonders, and the piles of snow lining the pavement. Ms Budget Travel's home stay apartment was four long flights of stairs above street level. She wheezed her way upstairs and was admitted into a warm flat barricaded as securely as Fort Knox. Double doors and multiple arcane locking systems are de rigueur in Russia. Marcia a 25-year-old travel professional and her younger sister Paullina were ms Budget Travel's hostesses for the week. They greeted me and showed me how various things worked --- where I could plug in my laptop and how to (maybe) coax hot water into the bathtub. Great Ms Budget Travel thought. The tired old broad with a backpack is staying with kids. Ms Budget Travel gets cranky when she is cold, tired, and deprived of sufficient wine to endure a long flight. She thought in haste. By the end of the week she wanted to take both girls home with her --- or at least visit again. . .. But that's the rest of the story . . . Drop by next week and we'll continue . . .
