Ms. Budget Travel has been bargain hunting all week. Last week she advised people seeking a ski vacation in the USA to book early. Well, this week she's suggesting that those of you who want to ski in the Alps take advantage of early booking specials and travel discounts over at European Vacation, a division of Rail Pass Express. The people at http://www.railpass.com have expanded their services to include tours and vacation packages. The experts in European travel for decades have done a great job in putting together packages.

Check out http://www.europeanvacation.com for ski packages starting as low as $245. They also offer packages in Austria and other areas suitable for tourists who don't ski. They're adding new content and new bargains often so you might want to bookmark the site.

http://travel.yahoo.com/t/dreammaps.html is a new feature over at Yahoo travel. If you want to go "somewhere" and aren't certain where you can go within your budget this tool will help --- and, it's fun to play with. You enter in your departure city and then enter the price you are willing to pay for airfare. A dream map fills your screen showing all the destinations you can reach for the price you are willing to pay. After a summer of high air fares a quick glance at Travelocity's fare finder seems to indicate that we're in for a few months of lower priced flights. Speaking of which, Travelocity's print magazine made its debut last month and despite its glossy pages, it is a great resource for budget travelers. The articles don't extol the virtues of breakfast buffets --- they focus on the quirky, trendy, and useful stuff that you need to know when going it independently.

It's already cold in Chicago. Residents wanting an escape should check out http://www.ata.com/ departures from Midway to Ft Lauderdale run less than one hundred dollars. The new http://www.atavacations.com/cgi-bin/atal... vacation site offers package trips from Chicago, Detroit, and New York. They offer all-inclusive, seven-day packages to Costa Rica for 1,179 throughout most of the winter.

If it has to be Cancun, check out http://www.travelscape.com/citiesonsale/... for their lodging and package deals.

Travelers from Israel who want news of what's happening back home, or people concerned about friends or family in Israel can get frequently updated news at http://www.Israelwire.com.

The UK has already had a dose of chilly weather. Should you need a quick escape, let me remind you that http://www.cheaperholidays.com has many last minute bargains available. Currently they show seven nights in Spain, self-catering, with flight for only 77 pounds, flight included. They have pages of listings for holidays less than 99 pounds.
