This week's reader email ranged from Vienna to Virginia with an unusual array of questions about destinations and departures. Stefan, a University student in Vienna, and his buddies are planning a visit to America to coincide with spring break. http://www.springbreak.com is a good starting point for them to find out about the American university student's spring bacchanal and http://www.daytonabreak.com will start them off on getting the essential reservations for participation in the huge party. Despite being American born and bred I've never indulged in those particular rites of spring. I am not really certain why but my own perambulations lead most often to the UK. You can see one possible reason why I roam England at http://www.wordarchive.com/archive.php3?... while you are at the word archive site you'll find a lot of interesting reading from 257 authors residing in 11 different countries. If reading about my journey to past leads you to an exploration of reincarnation, http://www.theosophy-nw.org/theosnw/rein... will guide you to articles about past lives. In this life, Joy from Virginia is planning a Mediterranean vacation. Joy's job will take her to London for three months after which she wants a bit of sun and sand Euro-style. I advised her to visit the multitude of travel agents in London that provide package holidays but suggested she start a web search by surfing round to http://www.thomascook.co.uk/bold/ or http://www.cheaperholidays.com/ to get some ideas about what's on offer. While Virginia is looking for a rest on the beach, I like urban vacations myself. Recently I've spent time exploring http://www.cities.com for links to web sites about cities around the globe. The site endeavors to link all the available web pages about a particular city making research incredibly easy. I've also discovered http://www.wcities.com a site that provides hints from local reviewers on sights and services in their home cities. Cities remains upbeat but strives for clarity and honesty in their reviews --- it's a great resource for selecting a restaurant or getting a customer point of view on sights and services. Speaking of cities, Lou from Manchester UK has me stumped. He's planning a trip to the USA for this summer and wants to know the MOST American city. I wrote him back and told him I'd mention his question this week and we'll see what answers come back through the ether. I've sent Lou to the two cities sites, but he wants more --- don't we all? So, for Lou and anyone else interested, where should a first timer to the USA start sight seeing?
