Excuse me while I slip into warm and fuzzy mode --- after all, it is just before the American Thanksgiving, and it occurs to me that Ms. Budget Travel is rather uncharacteristically thankful this year. I am overwhelmed with gratitude toward my tolerant and patient spousal unit who makes it possible for Ms. Budget Travel to alternate between globetrotting and nesting --- he also seems happily resigned to the hours of net travel she does to find you the best travel web sites. I am thankful that MSN News reminded me that over thirty thousand Americans will hit the road, rails, or sky this holiday weekend and ran a super article on coping with holiday travel that you can read at http://www.msnbc.com/msn/335669.asp --- the suggestions about hassle free transporting of kids strike me as particularly useful. Which reminds me, I am thankful for my sister --- with whom I fought in the back seat during the early years of my life as a traveler --- she and her spousal unit have been a big help to me (and you) they pass along budget travel tips from their trips that I happily co-opt and present to you. You guys --- regular readers and occasional visitors alike are another asset ---- I really am fortunate to get so much informative e-mail full of comments, advice, tips, and warnings when I've got it wrong. . . . progressing further down the happy trail . . . I'm thankful for the experiences I've had on my recent trip Particularly for the friendship of Adele, Faye, and Norman who I met in Jerusalem . . . we all stayed at the Allenby 2 --- you can read about the guesthouse at http://www.virtualjerusalem.com/clients/... . . . and, in weeks to come I'll be telling you more about it ---- it is the best budget bed and breakfast Ms Budget Travel has ever had the good fortune to find. I'm grateful to Danny Flax who runs the Allenby for giving me the real deal on doing Israel right. I'm grateful that I finally found a really wonderful budget bed and breakfast in London's Paddington area ---- I'll tell you about it in the weeks to come ---- frequent visitors to London take note ---- it's quiet and it has decent water pressure. I am extraordinarily grateful to the airline practice of overbooking and voluntary bumping ---- via this bit of magic a round trip between London and Ben Grunion airport in Israel that started out budget priced at 219 pounds (or 412 dollars) was cut into less than half that price ---- sixty nine pounds or a little over one hundred dollars. I'll tell you more about that in weeks to come when we look at the magic of being bumped.
