Leaving on a Jet Plane

I'm almost too excited to type.

Today is election day in the USA.

Marie Antoinette, Daniel Boone, Pat Buchanan, and James K. Polk were all born on November 2. Polk, the eleventh president of the USA, spent most of his childhood a few miles from where I live. http://www.ah.dcr.state.nc.us/sections/h... is where he grew up.

Tragic Marie Antoinette came to Versailles http://www.smartweb.fr/versailles as a bride of fourteen and left there in her 30s a victim of the Revolution. In addition to having an overwhelming collection of gaudy gilt stuff, Versailles has acres of beautiful formal gardens. It is an easy day trip from Paris.

Having become part of the American mythos, Daniel Boone has a National Forrest named after him http://www.gorp.com/gorp/resource/US_Nat... Daniel Boone National Forrest was named Cumberland National Forrest until 1966 the year that an extremely successful series starring Fess Parker dominated the small screen making Daniel Boone a TV era legend. I'll spare you my comments on Mr. Buchanan.

In addition to the American Thanksgiving on November 25, November is the month to celebrate the Day of Dead in Mexico on November first.

All Soul's Day is today, November 2.

In the UK, Guy Fawkes Day will start of with a bang on November 5.

November the 11th will bring many Americans to http://www.arlingtoncemetery.com for Veteran's Day. According to the Jewish calendar, today is the 23 of Cheshvan, in a week or so Kislev will begin. The High Holy Days are over. No Jewish holidays in the near future. The Islamic religion has no major observances for the next few weeks. Christmas and New Years are months away.

Everything I read tells me that prices in Jerusalem rise during religious holidays. Millennial madness and parades of pilgrims are in the future. Now, TODAY, November 2 seems to be a very good time to go to Israel.
