Let's keep on keeping on . . .
Starting in Delaware at http://www.state.de.us we'll keep clicking across the USA. Hitting the link gets you to the state's homepage and following the links drops you off in Delaware tourism - not a particularly inspiring site. Initially I discovered that Delaware is situated between DC and New York City - perfect for a stopover or getaway, the web page proclaims. However, what I was to do during my stay eluded me. It was only after mousing around through the State Park pages that I discovered some rather lovely beaches and nice historic homes that await visitors to the "first state." http://www.washington.org reaches the web site for Washington, DC's mammoth tourist organization. I was first seduced by a link to "101 Free Things to Do in DC," and moved on to links elaborating on the Cherry Blossom festival and hotel specials. The DC department of tourism does an exemplary job of telling you how to get to DC and get around once you are there. Florida wants to attract tourists, so it should come as no surprise that their web page is one of the best I've found thus far. http://www.flausa.com has some unique features. You can print maps from the site or order souvenirs. You can take a virtual tour of Florida and find out about everything from the Disney-Epcott Empire, the Keys, the Everglades, and several off-the-tourist-path places. You can use a handy form on the site to order a package of tourism information. Florida-bound travelers owe it to themselves to start their journey on the Internet. Got Georgia on your mind? Go to http://www.gomm.com for a sample of southern style tourist treats. The collection of tourism pages highlights every area of the state and points out the available attractions. If you are doing the snowbird run from the Northeast to Florida, you may want to check out the available goodies on your route. One minor disappointment marred this otherwise helpful site - attractions are described into detail but the essential addresses are not listed. From the East Coast, we alphabetically are zapped into the middle of the Pacific. http://www.visit.hawaii.org is a prime site advertising the wonders of the island paradise. You can find out all the amenities on tap at five-star resorts or reserve a bed in a near-beach hostel for only 14.75 per night. Hawaii lets you know virtually everything you'd want to know before you go via this most excellent web page. You can order additional information via a click. Go To Page: 1 2
