Yes, Virginnia, there is an air courier option . . .

Feb 2, 1999 - © Diane Goldberg under the original topic name

Courier trips within a country are not easy to find---courier flights exist because businesses want you to walk things through customs---you save them time, they save you money. Within the continental USA Fed Ex, UPS, and the US Postal Service move swiftly and reliably enough so that domestic courier flights aren't needed often.

In essence, if you can travel from a gateway airport and if you have a flexible schedule, you can fly internationally for a phenomenal discount. Bear in mind that courier flights do have specific return dates and that only carry-on luggage can go with you.

Update If you haven't stopped by http://www.kasbah.com lately, go back and visit the site---it's been updated and is full of even more information.

AND for a reliable way to find a great fare try http://www.travelzoo.com/Airfares.asp this net search engine's job is to find ALL the netfare specials. Over 20 airlines offer weekly fare bargains on their web-sites that DO NOT show up in other search engines!
