Saving Money at the Calgary Stampede

The Calgary Stampede is an annual event starting the second Friday of July and lasting ten days in Calgary, Alberta Canada. This event is billed as the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. However, going to this event can quickly and easily drain money from your wallet. Nonetheless, there are ways of attending this event without breaking your budget. Read on for great money saving ideas.

Entrance fees at the Calgary Stampede are fairly reasonable compared to a movie or local museum entrance fee. Nonetheless, the $11.00 adult fare as well as the $6.00 youth and seniors rate can get pretty expensive for an entire family. Fortunately, there are many ways promotions to reduce this cost.

There are special days dedicated to specific age groups. There is always one day dedicated to families, another to kids, and still another to seniors. On these days, there is a free pancake breakfast and grandstand show (rodeo events, entertainers, and performers). Furthermore, these individuals and their family members get free entrance to the Stampede when they attend this breakfast and grandstand show. Other entrance fee deals include $3.00 off for four Trident, Dentyne Ice, or Caramilk wrappers; free child entrance for coupons on Coca Cola products, and pre-purchased Three for Two General Admission Passes ($22.00).

The midway rides at the Stampede tend to quickly drain money. There are some ride discounts on Kids and Family days. However, best bets are on pre-purchased magic passes. These passes cost $20.00 and there are two options. One pass has unlimited credits for midway rides but does not allow more than one day of use. The second pass can be used on any number of days but has only 55 credits.

After the entrance fee and midway tickets, the next big money spender is beverages and food. There are some good deals on both, however, there are many more places which will try to bleed your wallet dry. Bring water bottles and refill them at the water fountains. Furthermore, there are always a few venders promoting their products at extremely reasonable rates ($1.00 for a pop or fruit juice). Look for these places when you are traveling around for future reference.

The same is true of food. You can bring snacks or a picnic lunch for the family. However, shaded space to eat is often at a premium around meal times. Again, be on the lookout for healthy reasonably priced meals. The best deals will always be burgers and fries. Really good dollar deals are always available at Weadickville. There is always a good variety of quality hot dogs, subs, sandwiches, salads, chips, and ice cream in this area as well as a lot of green space to sit and eat.
