Welcome to Traveling on a Budget!

Welcome to Traveling on a Budget! (formerly Budget Travel) In the next few weeks, Traveling on a Budget will be undergoing a few changes.

I recently adopted this topic (formerly Budget Travel). Due to name repetition conflicts with another topic, our name was changed from Budget Travel to Traveling on a Budget.

As assistant editor of this topic, I will now be writing all of the new articles. I will also add new discussions, polls, bulletins, and links to this topic.

Don't worry. All of those great articles by Diane that you enjoyed so much are still accessible through our web site. Just click on articles on our topic page or search for individual articles through the Suite University search engine.

A little about me... I hold an MA in Archaeology and Heritage from the University of Leicester, UK. I currently work as a consulting archaeologist. My job requires me to travel quite a bit, often to small out of the way places. Over time, I have learned to make the most of my travel time and money even when traveling to what seems to be the middle of nowhere. Between archaeological contracts and in my spare time, I write. My writing is mostly non-fiction based: academic articles, book reviews, editorial reviews, technical manuals, trade articles, and translations for computer software. I think my writing stems from my childlike desire to see and learn new things.

I have two regular columns. I am the Alaskan, Canadian, Greenland, and St. Pierre Correspondent (basically North America excluding the United States) for an international archaeological magazine, Archaeological World Report, coming out this spring. I am also the Canadian Correspondent for Aeroflight, an online magazine about aircrafts around the world. I also have two regular topics at Suite University: Family Travel and Travel on a Budget. Family Travel discusses everything about Family Travel. I plan to write articles with how to's and hints on how to save your sanity as well as your money on every type of family vacation. Traveling on a Budget discusses ways to save money on travel. I plan to write articles on general money saving ideas as well as specific travel deals.

For even more money and sanity saving solutions, I have written two travel courses for Suite University: Travel Planning and Family Travel. Travel Planning is designed to teach the pertinent questions to ask in order to discover what you need, want, and desire in a trip as well various search strategies for travel accommodations, food, transportation and activities.
