REFURBISHED KITCHEN CABINET DOORS

Are you sick of looking at your kitchen cabinets, but just can not afford new ones? Well, as usual, I have a great method that anyone can afford, and accomplish, for pennies, in a short period of time. If you are like me, you would love to give your kitchen a face lift now, before the holidays. Well, this is a very simple project, and the results are very rewarding. Start off by determing whether you need to paint them, or just give them a good cleaning, then do whatever is necessary to satisfy your taste. Next, measure two inches in on each cabinet door, and cut a piece of coordinating wall paper to fit. Where two doors come together only measure one inch in, because when the doors are closed you will have your visual two inches. Now, paste and hang the paper, smooth it and let it dry. Now comes the big finish. You can use very small wood trim, like screen mold, which is very inexpensive, measure and miter cut it to fit around the wall paper inserts. With this method you should cut it, paint it and glue it up, using construction adhesive with a couple of spots of hot glue to hold it in place while the construction adhesive dries. Once it has dried securely to the doors, you can touch up the paint where necessary with a small artist brush. BUT, as usual that is not the only possibility, you could also use fabric trims, sticks from your own trees, etc. Anything will work as long as it will cover the edge of your wallpaper inserts. This is another opportunity to be very creative on a budget! Also, remember some of the ideas I have given you in past articles for new cabinet hardware, like, twigs, old spoons and forks, etc. Will you be proud of yourself when you completely refurbish you kitchen cabinets for under ten dollars? I promise that everyone will be impressed at your ingenuity, and you may just start an epidemic of kitchen remodeling. Here is another little tip for your new kitchen. Let us say you use the sticks and twigs style, carry it throughout your kitchen to tie it all in, such as; glueing twigs around the light switches, frames, etc. It will just add to the look and you will be so pleased with the results. Now, get started, then enjoy your new kitchen and having everyone in it for the holidays!
