GREAT NEW PICTURE FRAMES

Here is another great recycling project. You can pick up old window units at thrift stores and used building material suppliers. You can also use old picture frames for this project. For the purpose of explaining this technique, I will explain the frame method, because the same steps apply to either. Let us say we are starting with a 10x13 frame, and a couple of photographs. Place the photos on the back side, where they will ultimately be, and mark them off with a sharpie on the front side. Now, remove them and start painting. Paint the whole empty area then paint designs on that, like little flowers, dragon flies, etc. Keep painting until you like the way your new frame looks, AND, be sure to decorate the frame part to match. I will leave you to your own imagination after giving you a few ideas. Think about things like using, fabric trim or ric-rac. Also you could use the little figures that you can purchase at craft stores instead of painting them on (butterflies, dragon flies, bees, etc.). You could use brass upholstery tacks, jewels glued on, etc. This is such a personal project, that I can not tell you a specific way to do it, Besides half the fun is in using your imagination. If you do not use glass paint, be sure to seal the painted area with clear coat, before gluing anything else onto the project. Remember, that my readers and I are interested in any unique ideas you come up with. Once you have completed decorating the front, simply tape the photos into the areas saved for them, on the back side. I promise you that once you get started, the ideas will really flow. ENJOY!

TIP: When putting plants out in your garden or flower bed, remember to bury several 6 to 12 inch lengths of PVC throughout the bed, so that when you water, you can fill them with water as well, which will slowly water the root systems. This really helps plants to grow healthier.
