PRETTY UP YOUR MEMORY BOOKS

This week's project would make a great gift for anyone, as we are coming into the holidays. Start with the cheapest scrap/memory book you can find. Because memory books are so hot right now, who can afford the fancy ones? Necessity, in fact, is the mother of invention. Cut a piece of cardboard a couple of inches smaller than the front of your book, now, find a great photo for the front. Cut an oval in the cardboard for the photo. Cover the photo with clear contact paper and lay it aside. Now, cut a piece if quilt batting to the size and shape of the carboard, and glue it on. FYI - if you do not have any batting available, old blankets work great. You sometimes will have to use the blanket material, double thickness. Next, simply cover it with a pretty fabric, and attaching it to the back, either using glue or tape. When you cut the center you will have to cut slits all the way around, to make it cover smoothly. The next step is to attach the the photo to the back with tape, or glue. Now to finish your project, glue lace around the outside of your project, then glue it to the front of your memory book. I promise anyone will love this gift, and you will enjoy making them. Enjoy your new memory book project and especially your savings.

TIP: This will be a handy tip for all my readers, because we all run into to screws that just want to be stubborn going in. Next time, before you start, try rubbing the screw through a bar of soap. It will go in so much easier.
