Hi everyone, this week I want to tell you about a new project using one of my favorite materials, CARDBOARD BOXES! It would be hard to get much cheaper than that. I am, for the sake of the article, going to explain how to make a gift bag, then I will give you more ideas using the same basic methods. Start by finding your cardboard boxes. You want to use only the sections without printing on it, so keep that in mind while finding the boxes. Next, you should determine what size gift bag you want and cut out four sides and a bottom to make that size. Now, you will need a simple hole punch and some lacing. You could use jute, raffia or even leather for the lacing, whatever suites your fancy. Punch holes all down the edges of the pieces for the sides, then punch holes along the bottom. Make the holes about 1" apart and make sure they will line up with the holes in the piece that will go next to it. When all your holes are punched, simply lace it together, then at the top of two sides, punch two holes about 3 or 4 inches apart to make handles. These gift bags are great just like this, BUT you could also stamp them, get the kids to color a picture on it, glue flowers or other trinkets to it, etc. Now that you know how to do this project, you should not stop at gift bags, you could make baskets, trays, cubes for the coffe table. On the cubes you could decoupage photos all the way around. You could make lifts and levels for decorating your home, etc. Again, I ask you to let your imagination be your guide. So, get started and enjoy all your new stuff and especially enjoy all the money you will be saving.
TIP: To shine stainless steel or glass, use coffee filters. It works great!
