MAKE YOUR OWN BAG BAG

© Terri Landrum

Hello everyone, this craft is for those of you who have zillions of plastic grocery bags, and no place to put them. I know first hand what a mess that can be. The craft you are about to learn is a simple bag, that can hang inside a closet, in a laundry room, or anywhere else that is out of the way. This bag holds hundreds of plastic bags and you simply pull them out the bottom, one at a time, just like tissues. There are several ways to make this bag; you may sew it, use fusable web tape, or use fabric glue. Remember, if you decide to use the fabric glue, it must sit for at least 24 hours before using it. You will need a piece of fabric 22 inches by 30 inches, one shoe string or other type drawstring, and a small piece of thin elastic. I will give you the instructions for this assuming that you will sew it, BUT you may certainly alter it to fit your method. First, sew a one inch pocket at each end (on the 22 inch ends). Next, fold it length wise, front side to front side, then run a seam down the side (the 30 inch side). Now, turn it right side out and make small slits on each side of the seams, top and bottom, on the inside of the pockets. Last, thread the draw string into one end and the elastic into the other. Pull the elastic tight, while leaving some give to the elastic. Tie a knot in the draw string at at the end of the strings, to use to hang your BAG BAG. Stuff the bags into the top (end with drawstrings), one at a time, and pull them out the bottom, one at a time. What a great little NEATER UPPER and SPACE SAVER!

TIP: To clean and sharpen your can opener blade or to sharpen scissors, simply fold a piece of aluminum foil in half, and cut through the foil ten or fifteen times, for scissors. To clean and sharpen the can opener, cut through the foil for about a minute.
