Okay, you're all set to go. You have a weekend ahead of you and you've cleared your schedule. You're determined to do some decorating around your house to freshen it up. Now what? How can you be sure you'll have the right supplies? Where do you go for simple, clear and complete instructions so you don't end up
wasting your time, money and effort?
The answer: turn to the Web, of course! A decade ago, locating low-budget decorating projects was a bit more complicated. There was no HGTV and the Web was still in its infancy, not yet bursting with information for budget decorating enthusiasts. We had to turn to magazines, books and a few television shows. But today, you can search out projects in specific areas much more
easily, and you're more likely to find, let's say, instructions for a mosaic flower pot, if you absolutely must have it today.
So where do you begin? Check out five of my favorite sites when it comes to easy decorating projects:
- Housenet offers a good variety of Fast How-to Projects on its site.
- BH&G Quick & Easy Decorating offers very brief, creative project ideas to beautify your home.
- ehow's Home & Garden Center offers many projects and specific instructions for each. Learn to do everything from accessorizing a bathroom to no-sew window treatments to decorating a hallway.
- Wallflowers.net offers a lengthy list of projects with very complete instructions. You'll find something for every room of your home here.
- Joann's Fabric & Crafts offers plenty of home decorating projects that involve fabric of all kinds.
Don't forget to check the library, your local bookstore or online bookstore
(like
Amazon.com) for books dedicated to projects for decorating your home. Also check out decorating magazines like "Country Sampler's Decorating Ideas" and "Better Homes & Gardens Do it Yourself" magazine.
