Home Office Decorating: Furniture and Storage for Your Home Workspace© L.C. Dumke To begin decorating (or redecorating) your home office, consider how you'll use the room, and choose your furnishings and accessories accordingly. Basic Home Office Furniture For a multi-purpose-use home office, you'll probably have some basic computer equipment, at the least. Check garage sales, flea markets, and going-out-of-business sales for items like filing cabinets, computer desks, and printer stands. Make your own desk by combining two filing cabinets and a piece of wood for the top. Purchase a sliding keyboard drawer from an office supply store and attach it underneath. For the home office that children and parents share, you'll also probably have basic computer equipment, a scanner and a printer. You may want to invest in adjustable seating so all computer users will be comfortable. For very small children who are just learning computer skills, mouses and keyboards designed especially for kids can help them learn more easily and be more comfortable. Home Office Storage and Supplies For supplies, try to keep things like paper and reference materials low, so kids can help themselves and return the items when they're done. Baskets can help keep little books (like computer software quick reference books) neat on shelves. Think outside the box for home office storage as well. Try organizing items in ceramic bowls, hat boxes or even beautiful antique suitcases. Go To Page: 1
