Windblown, Sun-Faded Fragments in the Desert

Apr 1, 2002 - © Yeshe Chodon

windblown fragment
a picture of Melba atop a peak in Red Canyon, Utah. The trouble is, her features are rarely defineable in photographs. She was so black; most of her pictures show a silhouette, a shadow of a dog. And this she was in comparison to the more assertive dog personalities around her.

But memorialized she shall be.

How does this connect to Buddhism? Whatever I say or express at this moment is the sum total of where Buddhism has led me to this moment. At this time, I eschew the doctrinaire for the richness of personal experience. It's all in the mix somewhere.

But no, that is too self-indulgent and foggy. The connection is impermanence, that is all we really have. My golden days with Melba are now and have been all along undergoing the same process as these pictures slowly transforming into new matter in the ghost-ridden hills.
