DVD News and Reviews (AYBS?,Good Neighbors)Not surprisingly the move to the big screen does not translate into bigger laughs, in fact the opposite is often true. The extended running time and lack of audience interaction lend the film an oddly stilted air. Fans of the series will be quick to forgive the film it's faults but those new to the Are You Being Served? Universe should probably start off with a few installments of the TV version first. Good Neighbors - The Complete Final Season / Royal Command Performance Acorn Media has released a much-welcomed two-disc set collecting the complete final season of the phenomenally funny, and popular, comedy Good Neighbors. These classic episodes on their own would have been worth the admission price but Acorn have sweetened the deal considerably with the inclusion of the Royal Command Performance episode "When I'm 65". Not only is this a terrific addition to a classic series but it also offers a rare and fascinating insight into both Royal entertainment protocol and a behind the scenes look at the production process from the point of view of a member of the live audience. Seven episodes plus the Royal performance are included and augmented by an interview with series writer/creator Bob Larbey. A must have!
