Upcoming Telly Choices BBC America has quite a few treats coming up these next couple of weeks from comedy to BritPop to group gardening, here's a peek: Paul Whitehouse's The Fast Show, known in the States as Brilliant, is simply one of televisions greatest sketch comedy programs featuring a laundry list of memorable characters and classic skits. That Whitehouse and company aren't household names in the US is a crime against entertainment, fortunately BBC America has been airing the series for awhile now and in March will be presenting Suit You Sir, a behind the scenes look as what makes Brilliant! so . well brilliant. Promos for the special promise to divulge the inspirations for some of the popular characters the team have created, hopefully we'll find out just what the deal is with those two Suit You Sir lads! Back in the seventies and eighties when I was formulating my taste for British Telly I was also keenly aware of the superiority of the British music charts, especially during the punk and new wave eras. The nineties haven't been quite as exciting but still managed to produce a handful of crucial bands (Blur, Oasis, Manic Street Preachers, Supergrass) to rejuvenate the Brit-music scene entering the new century. The Brits are the UK's version of the Grammy's with a bit of MTV Music awards anarchy thrown in.and BBC America will be airing them come March. Assuming they show the official broadcast we'll be seeing such presenters as Naked Chef Jamie Oliver, Graham Norton, Oasis man Noel Galagher, DJ Pete Tong and the eternally delectable Kylie Minouge. Performance are expected from the likes of U2 , Westlife, Eminem, Robbie Williams and current sensations Coldplay. The Brits focus their awards on home grown talent as well as international artists. Nominated for Best British Group this year are All Saints,Coldplay, Moloko, Radiohead and Toploader while The Corrs, Santana, Savage Garden, U2 and Westlife vie for Best International; group. For a complete list of noms and full info on The Brits check out The Brits Website, and for more news and discussion of the British music scene visit BBC America's Brit Beat site. Fans of Ground Force will be familiar with resident water feature expert and sensual earth mother Charlie Dimmock, who seems to spend most of her time being filmed from the neck down as she bounces along in her work (shame on you BBC camera lads!) We;; Ms. Dimmock is more than a pretty face in a tight top in fact she's a wildly popular celeb brimming with warmth, charm and smarts to spare. BBC America is letting her shine on Go To Page: 1 2
