Alice in Tellyland and other bits as well...

Magnificent Two  please contact me as biggle@bigglethwaite.com. I've been searching and searching, but have come up empty thus far.

I hope everyone else has been enjoying Gormenghast (BBC America) and The 1900 House (PBS) as much as I have.

Comedy Central has picked up The League of Gentlemen, and it's probably airing right about now so check your local listings. I wonder if it will survive the censors intact?

Fans of Brother Cadfeal rejoice, The Virgin in the Ice is being released on DVD, so, we'll be able to revel in Derek Jacobi's terrific portrayal of the Medieval Crusader turned Monk turned sleuth in glorious digital clarity. Hopefully, this will be the first of many such releases.

Even more exciting Jacobi related news is the imminent DVD release of the complete I Claudius augmented by the fascinating documentary "The Epic That Never Was" which chronicles Charles Laughton's ill-fated stab at Robert Graves' classic historical novels. If you enjoyed Jacobi in Ridley Scott's summer blockbuster Gladiator (which also features star turns from veteran thesps Oliver Reed and David Hemmings) you need to get these discs.

Also coming on DVD is the animated mini-series based on Terry Pratchett's Discworld novel Wyrd Sisters. Featuring the commanding presence of Christopher Lee and  Jane Horrocks (again) this is a must buy for fans of TerryP's brand of humor, though the animation is frankly lackluster.
