First off this week a quick review of some noteworthy sites dedicated to British Telly and then onto the unveiling of the Brit-Mystery Showdown Finalists! * Whispers From Wallmington is a full featured Dad's Army fan site lovingly assembled by Dave Coventry. There's hardly any aspect of the classic Home Guard comedy that's not covered at this fun and valuable site. *Two of the, soon to temporarily reunite, Monty Python troupe have fan sites in their honor that are well worth a visit. Michael Palin Online fetes the multitalented Mr. Palin known nearly as well for his more recent television series chronicling his extraordinary world travels (Around the World in 80 days, Pole to Pole, Full Circle) as he is for his pioneering Python days. Palin's Python crony Eric Idle is represented on Eric Idle Net which boasts, and deservedly so, that it is "the world's (self-proclaimed) largest, finest and most obsessive (and to my knowledge, first) Eric Idle fan site." *Benny Hill fans can fritter away their online hours at BennyHill.Com dedicated to the late, and much missed funnyman. BennyHill.Com features a large selection of Video Clips of classic Hill sketches among its many goodies. *Nostalgia fans will want to bookmark Whiligig, a terrific site dedicated to British TV from the 50's.Both children's (Bill and Ben, Muffin the Mule and more) and Adult programs (including The Army Game, Maigret, Hancock's Half Hour and still more) are featured at this fun web stop. *For those who think the BBC is just about period Dramas, wacky comedies and a World Class News service will want to check out some of the Beeb's other fine endeavors. Science buffs will find much worthwhile at The Sky at Night, the official site for the long running (42 years at last count) astronomy program and nature and wildlife program lovers will want to visit the BBC's Natural Curiosity site. *Tired of having to log on and waste precious Internet time browsing the British telly schedules? Thanks to a free software program for Windows you're complete, customized telly listings are only a short download away. DigiGuide makes searching for your favorite programs a snap - just download the DigiGuide software from their site and, after a quick and painless configuration, pop back online for a remarkably quick download of your selected listings that you can then view offline at your leisure. I've used the software myself and it performs very well indeed. The ability to color code your listings by type of program is especially nice and the program supports just about every channel Go To Page: 1 2
