BBC America in May (House of Cards Vicar of Dibley and more)

the two sequel series that compete Dobb's Urquhart trilogy, The Final Cut and To Play the King. Brilliant stuff! House of Cards airs Fridays at 8:00PM

"Forget AbFab", I tell my friends when the conversation turns to that talented comedic duo French and Saunders, forget Abfab, The Vicar of Dibley is the real classic series to stem from the brilliant pair. Dawn French is Geraldine Granger, the sleepy village of Dibley's new vicar and her arrival's been a bit of a shock to the locals, they were, after all, expecting a man. The Vicar of Dibley boasts one of the strongest supporting casts yet assembled for a comedy series while still allowing French to strut her stuff. Perhaps the single most important element in making VoD stand out from the Britcom crowd is the way it mixes cozy and cutting. It's a lovely, comfortable place to spend half an hour but it never gets lazy. You never quite know what's going to happen next. The ability to create an inviting atmosphere without becoming dull or overly predictable make The Vicar of Dibley a modern comedy classic. (And I must not be the only one who thinks so - VoD did quite well in the Battle of the Britcoms, making it all the way to a respectable showing in the Semi-final!) The Vicar of Dibley airs Wednesday evenings.
(Make sure you don't tune out before the credits have finished rolling; there's usually something nice saved for the end.) French and Saunders begins airing May 19.

Britcom fans will also want to keep an eye out for these other classic comedies arriving  in the  month of May : Bottom, The Young Ones and A Bit of Fry and Laurie.

While most people have probably at least heard of one or more of the previously mentioned programs, BBC America is also showing quite a few lesser known, to those of us stateside at least, shows that have proved, in my case at any rate, to be somewhat addicting. The astounding thing is that these aren't new Britcoms or mysteries or even soaps. The shows I can't live without these days  are all about gardening and interior decorating and architecture.Boring you say? Well come with me mate, these aren't your typical how-to shows.

Changing Rooms takes two sets of neighbors and has them re-do a room in each others house. The only catch is the neighbors have no say in what happens to their own room but get to choose how the others will be done over. With the assistance of interior decorators
