A few weeks ago, I stumbled onto a Web directory that listed a slew of sites offering "ask the expert" sections. I was amused to see that many topics were covered - including less popular ones like "Ask the Sea Dog." I started thinking about how many pregnancy, newborn and parenting sites have an "ask the expert" section. So I decided to offer up my favorite nursing Q & A sites.
The Breastfeeding Experts Parent Soup: Ask La Leche League If you are looking for an enormous archive of Q & A's, this is the place for you. Questions are categorized in the "browse/search questions" section, with the current question posted on the main page. Answers are given from what appears to be a large group of La Leche League leaders. Parents Place.Com: Debbi Donovan, IBCLC I have had this section listed in my Top Five Web sites for as long as this Suite101 topic has been up. But Parents Place recently changed their format, and the Q & A section is now, in my opinion, easier to read. Debbi has answered questions about everything from pre-nursing issues to weaning. Pregnancy Today: Melissa Clark Vickers, Med, IBCLC Although the Q & A section for breastfeeding is joined with the more general "after the baby is born" questions, this area is great. Melissa gives detailed answers to questions, and instead of listing them by topic, the questions are given on the main page. Each of these sites holds a disclaimer of some sort, which covers legalities for the site. But the main point remains: if you are having a problem or concern that is more than just a common question - see a La Leche League leader or lactation consultant. These lactation professionals can help you much better by having a conversation with you, seeing you, or having an opportunity to follow-up with you. Go To Page: 1 2
