Today is the day to celebrate your mom, mother-in-law, grandma and your status as a mom, the most important job in the world!

Make a promise today to have an annual mammogram if you are 40 or older. All women over 20 should practice monthly BSE (breast self- exam).

Consider the option of genetic testing if you are at high risk for breast cancer.

Do something to help eradicate breast cancer. Here are some easy ways to contribute to the cause.

M & Ms - The makers of M&M candies has teamed up with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to raise funds through the sale of their new " pink & white " M&M "candies. For each 8-ounce bag of the special candies sold, the makers of M&M (Masterfoods) will donate 50 cents to the foundation. The next time you want a treat, please pick up a bag (now sold in stores nationwide) - you will be donating to a great cause and satisfying your sweet tooth.

Walk and raise funds - Whether you are a beginner and can only walk one mile, or a real athlete and can challenge yourself mentally and phyiscally with 60 miles over three days - there is an event for everyone! You can help raise needed dollars for research and support of women diagnosed with breast cancer; you will make new friends; you will find an inner strength that you might not have know you had. There are local walks, national walks... Check out these websites for more information on some of the better know events. You can also contact your local hospital or breast center to see what they have planned. Who knows? Maybe next year, YOU will be planning their first event!
