Helping at the Shelter

Animal Volunteer Day was June 11th. I was visiting my grandma so I went to the shelter with her and helped with the dogs and cats. My little brother, Dillon, helped too.



We helped bathe dogs, changed paper in their crates, gave them treats, filled water bowls, cleaned kitty litter boxes and hosed off the cement.




I loved bathing Lance, a Cocker Spaniel. He had soft curly ears. Three little puppies were brothers. Two were black and white and one was brown and white. They played a lot together and liked kids. We laughed a lot at four cute, cuddly kittens. They grabbed at my fingers. Their feet were really soft. They climbed all the way to the top of their cage.

Thunder is a big pretty dog. He is really friendly and is five years old just like my little brother. I missed Tommy, a little red terrier, because he was adopted by a teacher, but I'm glad he has a good home.

The best part of helping was putting treats in the crates for the dogs to find when they came in from outside. I want to help the animals because God created them to be happy.
