When everyone is gathered around the Christmas tree opening presents, your dog will appreciate being a part of the fun with some gifts of his own. Dogs don't know that the holidays are near, but they can sense that something special is going on. And, they like to get in on the fun just like people do.
For instance, my German Shepherd loves to play ball, so I might get him a new tennis ball to replace his old ragged one. My spitz likes to play tug, so I might get her a new tug rope, and my two little terriers are always snooping into things, so I might get them a special hollow toy ball with holes in the sides to fill with kibbles or milkbone bits. They can have hours of fun rolling it around and coaxing out the treats. I have another little no-nonsense terrier who doesn't play much, so she might be happy with a new warm sweater to wear when she goes outside on cold days. And, of course any dog would love to get a new Christmas collar with a bell or a bag of chewies. Here are some ideas to get you started shopping for your dog. Nylabone chewy Milkbones or any kind of biscuit that helps to clean teeth Toys such as a Frisbee, tug rope or ball Sweater and booties for winter walks Bandana for dressing up Brush New food bowl If you have a big dog, you may want to consider getting one of the bowls that come with a stand so that your dog can have his meal comfortably without stretching all the way to the floor. At the link below, you will find many doggy items to give you more ideas. To keep your dog safe, be sure that any gift he receives is made especially for dogs and doesn't have any parts that he can pull off and choke on. Do not give your dog bones or human food. Bones can splinter and hurt his stomach and human food can upset his digestion. For a no-cost doggy gift, get some crayons and create a pretty gift note promising a game of fetch or an extra long brushing and place it under the tree. Just as you enjoy playing games and having fun times with your family, your dog will appreciate extra attention from you. Come Christmas Day, your dog will be one happy pooch, as long as he knows you love him! Go To Page: 1 2
