Animal Rights - Please Read!

Okay, this is quite off topic. But I often write about animal rights and I had to let you know about the following news item. I've been writing about the fight to stop using animals in medical ecperiments ever since PCRM (Physicians Committe for Responsible Medicine) launched their advocating campaign in 1994. Please take a moment to read the following and respond.

Many thanks!

By the way...I'll be on a bit of vacation (well, sort of) over the next few weeks, but I will be back to bring you more articles on botanicals very soon! Stay tuned...

I'm sure all of you boycott cosmetics and other products made "safe" at the expense of animals, but I'm very concerned about a recent report that came to me from PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine) this week. PCRM has been pivitol in the cause against the use of animals as medical modalities in medical schools, but the slaughter apparently continues in other agencies. In 1992 and again in 1994, PCRM approached the U.S. Congress with the sobering fact that the University of Lousiana had shot 700 cats in the head to demonstrate the effect of a bullet on the human head. PCRM has been successful in that the majority of medical schools have adopted computer generated tools for the medical student, but, it seems we must continue to contend with the military to prevent such senseless acts of murder. You don't even want to know the details of such experiments.

If you feel the same as I do,please take a moment to complete the following. Then print it and send it to your congressional representative today! Thanks

---------------------copy & paste---------------------

Dear Representative:

As a resident of your district, I'm asking you to push for an end to the use of animals in all military experiments and training. The Department of Defense spends nearly $200,000,000 a year on animal experiments even though cheaper and preferred training methods are already in place in medical schools and advanced trauma centers and far superior non-animal research methods are available. The military's history of fiscal responsibilty speaks for itself, but the use of animals in experiments must be stopped now.

Sincerely,

YOUR NAME ADDRESS CITY/STATE ZIP
