Talking to Heaven: A Medium’s Message of Life After Death by James Van Praagh

In recent months, I have become quite a fan of the TV series, “Crossing Over” with John Edwards. A gifted medium, John does readings for his audience members and the results are often quite compelling. So, when I saw Talking to Heaven: A Medium’s Message of Life After Death on Barnes and Noble’s Bargain Book list, I knew I had to buy it.

Author James Van Praagh, like John Edwards, is a renowned medium who conveys messages between the earthly and spiritual worlds. As early as six years of age, James knew he had a gift. What it was called or how he saw the things he did, he couldn’t explain, but James just “knew” things about people when they walked into a room.

His earliest remembrance of his gift goes all the way back to first grade. One look at his teacher and James was filled with an overwhelming sadness. He reassured her, however, that while her son had just been hit by a car and had broken his leg, everything was going to be OK. He turned out to be 100% correct.

Talking to Heaven, however, doesn’t dwell merely upon how James’s ability developed. Rather, it is more of an eclectic collection of his most vividly accurate readings, including one that appeared on the TV series, “Unsolved Mysteries.” From sudden, tragic accidents to AIDS, suicide and Alzheimer’s, Talking to Heaven offers insight and healing to those grieving loved ones left behind. Anyone with an open mind will be awed by the surprisingly accurate details Van Praagh brings to light.

Finally, Talking to Heaven closes with some helpful suggestion for tuning into your own psychic abilities. It offers advice on dealing with grief, making contact with loved ones and opening yourself up to the power of meditation. Part how-to/advice, part autobiography, sprinkled with a variety of interesting “contacts,” Talking to Heaven will appeal to a wide variety of reading tastes.
