Well, for the next few months my column is filled with event and theme articles. So, since I’ll be missing out on bringing you an Autumn Bargain Books, I thought I’d give you a bonus article now. This way you can get a jumpstart on your fall book purchases. Buy plenty for curling up on cool, lazy afternoons! I’ve recently developed a fascination with this author’s TV series, "Crossing Over," which airs daily on the Sci-Fi Channel. 5. Yesterday I Cried by Iyanla Vanzant
Frequent Oprah guest Iyanla has just been given her very own talk show, which begins airing around the same time this article is published. Here, she offers tips on how she overcame obstacles in her own difficult life to help you achieve growth and healing. Softcover $4.95
6. Still Me by Christopher Reeve
The inspiring story of how "Superman" bounced back after a devastating horse accident that broke his neck and left him a quadriplegic. Hardcover $4.99
7. The Hundred Secret Senses by Amy Tan
One of my all-time favorite authors, Amy Tan writes with heart-touching intensity, weaving stories that span generations of women and cross continents, from China to America and back again. Check out my article on The Bonesetter’s Daughter to learn more. Hardcover $3.99
