Pleading Guilty by Scott Turow

Gage and Griswell, a high-powered law firm overseen and almost entirely funded by aviation conglomerate, TN Airlines, is in trouble...BIG trouble. Not only is one of its partners, Robert Kamin, missing, but $5.6 million have also disappeared along with him. This isn’t good news for G&G, given that the monies were part of a multi-million dollar settlement against TN Airlines. If Kamin (and the money) aren’t found quickly, G&G may cease to be and that’s not good news for the money-hungry attorneys backed by TN’s payroll.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Enter Mack Malloy. A former cop, now a down-and-out partner in the Gage and Griswell firm, this case offers Mack a final chance to prove himself to his employers. Hanging on by a thread, the security of his job hinges on a long ago favor paid to one of TN Airline’s executives. A good showing in this ordeal guarantees his future with G&G. But things aren’t always as they appear.

Not quite the fool they make him out to be, Mack starts uncovering some seedy dealings involving the highest executives of both companies. Confronting the demons from his past, including alcoholism, an ex-wife-turned lesbian and an ex-partner hell-bent on revenge, Mack Malloy takes matters into his own hands. Shedding his persona of "whipping boy," he delves deep, unearthing secrets and exacting the ultimate revenge on those who’ve played him for the fool.

Author Scott Turow, who has also written the bestsellers Presumed Innocent and Burden of Proof, continues the popular trend begun by John Grisham. A Harvard Law School graduate, he weaves his educational expertise into character-driven, page turning thrills a minute. If you like courtroom dramas laced with surprise twists and turns, be sure to check out this author.
