Some people think that romance novels are merely small books of interest to a narrow segment of society. And, let's face it, different people do have different tastes. Not everyone is a big romance fiction fan. But many people are. In the United States, nearly 50% of the paperback books sold are romance novels. At the Romance Writers of America site, they maintain Romancing the Lists which lists the romance authors that are on the New York Times, Publishers Weekly and USA Today bestseller lists. The list is updated three times a week. The big names in romance these days are Nora Roberts, Diane Gabaldon, Linda Howard, LaVyrle Spencer and Sandra Brown. Besides the selections from the top ten lists, RWA also maintains an Honor Roll which lists the romance writers who are members of RWA and whose romance novels (or other books) have been on the New York Times top 15 list, Publishers Weekly's top 15 list or USA Today's top 50 list. Waldenbooks Brentano's Romance Bestsellers lists the top ten best selling romance novels in the series category and the top ten romance bestsellers in the single title category, regardless of whether or not the writers are members of Romance Writers of America. If you're not already a romance fiction fan, check out some of these books. Who knows? It might be a whole new way of life for you. Joanne Go To Page: 1
