Serialized Fiction Makes Comeback The Baltimore Sun Web has gone and done it now! It's in the book publishing business, on the Internet, no less. They announced that "SunSpot, Maryland's Online Community, today announced the debut of a new online book publishing venture that gives unpublished authors the opportunity to showcase their work before a worldwide audience." SunSpot Press plans to feature the novels of previously unpublished authors in a serialized format. The Narcoleptic Dialectic by Mark Arenz is the first book up. And it will be serialized in 15 weekly installments. The first two installments are already up. Here's the blurb from the page: The Narcoleptic Dialectic chronicles the life of Dirk Hillford, who wakes up on the floor of his apartment, having lost nearly two years of his life to an apparent narcoleptic coma. As he struggles to remember what he's done to make so many enemies, he meets and reluctantly falls in love with a woman who was trapped in a bomb shelter following a "misunderstanding" regarding the Cuban Missile Crisis. Before the dust clears he discovers an electronic device in his cranium, foils a plot to enslave the earth with exploding fonts, strengthens his insurance portfolio, and eventually ends up six feet underground. More on Styron Steven Schnider wrote in response to last week's column in which I mentioned that I could not find a good web page for William Styron. Contrary to my experience, Steven had excellent results in finding Styron pages. Here's a list of some that he recommends: Environmental Portraits - A picture of William Styron War Stories: Reality and Metaphor Back into the stacks, Joanne Go To Page: 1
