Substituting for the Squat (part 3 of 3)

The whole program
So how do you put all this together? Well, it's pretty simple: Pick two exercises for each workout, and alternate order and which one to leave out. Don't forget that you can alternate between normal and one-legged Leg-presses. In addition, alternate between 4 heavy/low-rep sessions and 2 light/high-rep sessions, to ensure that all kinds of muscle fiber get involved, and that you keep making progress. Once in a while you can do something COMPLETELY different, such as Lounges, Adductor/Abductor-machines, or any one of the new kinds of quad-machines out there which doesn't quite simulate either squats or leg-extensions. And above all: Be creative and imaginative! If you get bored, chances are slim that you will get a productive workout. Try something new once in a while, and challenge yourself or your training partner.

...Finally, I would like to tell you about a little project I've been working on for a while. People have asked me why I don't run more articles about diet and nutrition, and I think the time has come to start pre-hyping myself a little. Within a month I will lay the final touches on my own diet book, wrapping together everything any yahoo off the street needs to know to fend off all the weird and incorrect diet fads out there. And since I will cover sports nutrition, supplementation, and fat-burn techniques (while keeping muscle, as opposed to most of the other books out there!) I think you too will find a lot of interesting tidbits in it. The working title is "The No-Bull Diet," and I'm just about to start pushing it to various publishers. If you have any tips about publishers, or better yet - offers (Yay!!), please feel free to either drop me an E-mail, or post a comment.

It's still going to be a while before anything really comes of this, but if Star Wars started its hype over a year before its release, heck, why can't I? ;-)
