Finding stylish clothing for plus size teen girls can be difficult. Creating teen clothes in larger sizes has not been a priority for designers. Teens do not want to wear the same fashions as their mothers; they don’t want to be restricted to one very small section of a store; and they don’t want to be stigmatized by wearing unfashionable clothing.
For anyone of any size to look good, fit is crucial. Girls with real curves need to be especially aware of how clothes fit. Too many girls try to hide their bodies in overlarge, loose clothing, but this just makes them look bigger. Others try to fit into the style they want, even if it is too small. By showing too much skin, they are not achieving their desired look. It may take more searching, but finding a place with clothing in your size and a fit that makes you look your best is important. The Internet is a great place to start. Many websites cater to curvy teens and use real-girl models instead of the usual size 2 girls. Look for Plus-Size Juniors. They offer styles found in the junior departments, but sized for teen bodies. Torrid - “Young women wearing sizes 12 to 26 can now match the style, excitement and selection available at straight size fashion retailers.” Size Appeal - The first curvy fashion website to serve up "trendy, current, form-fitted clothing at comparatively moderate prices.” b & lu - “Trend setting junior styles in flattering fits.” IGIGI - Believes that words like "ample," "opulent," "curvaceous," and "voluptuous" should be mainstays in the fashion dictionary.” Go To Page: 1
