It's also important to realize that the most loving and unselfish act a person can do is to love another person's child. Step-parents who are successful in doing this, not only because they love the other parent, but who find they really do love their step-children, will know when it's time to take a firmer stance and a joint front-seat in parenting, and will receive the support of the other parent.
