Sept. 11, 2001: The Day The Earth Stood StillAn image from a black and white movie hit me this morning as I was going out to get the newspaper. RAGING BULL. Sugar Ray Robinson wins over Jake La Motta, played by Robert De Niro. Even though he lost the fight, he remained standing throughout the whole battle. "Hey, Ray," he says through a bloody smile, "you didn't knock me down." Yesterday, America, and the civilized world, was knocked down. We were attacked by monsters from outer space. Godzilla came to town and stomped us under his foot. But this was no movie. This was the new reality. We will recover. We will get up from the canvas. We will beat back Godzilla and all the monsters. But it won't be as easy as in the movies. May God Bless and Protect America and civilized people everywhere.
